One might wonder, what was Australia made for? To benefit whom? It might seem there is no sane reason to its existence.
However, when one thinks about the question from a global perspective, the answer becomes obvious. Australia was created to be a counter-weight. So the world would not become top-heavy, and turn upside down.
With Australia as its counterweight, the word remains stable – as it should. And the heavier Australia becomes, the stabler the world.
So we Northern hemisphereists should encourage the Australians to eat, drink and become as fat as possible! To ensure continuing stability of our planet.
There is one caveat, though. Should the world be put on a pedestal – like those small toy spheres where a small liquid-filled town enjoys snowfall when the sphere is shaken – then Australians would get squeezed between the globe and its pedestal.
Thin Australians would be a bit better off, perhaps, but fat ones would have a hard time, that’s for sure.
One can but thank fate one is not Australian! Living like a rat in a squeezed dark space between the world and its pedestal is not going to be a hoot.
